Too Soon, Too Late
Typographic Posters
I was invited by Fictionist Studio to contribute an artwork for their first self publication ‘Latter’, which had the theme ‘kibosh’. Kibosh means to decisively put an end to something, and contributors were invited to interpret the theme in whatever way they wanted. I chose to express the theme typographically, using the visuals of a frayed knot, which was accompanied with a short prose:
Rip your ropes
Fray its fibres
Forget the spool
Knot what’s yours
Look to the loom:
The thread resumes
Take your leave
Let it weave
TOO SOON, TOO LATE explores the dichotomy of prospective perception of a tragedy and the retrospective acceptance of it as part of life’s wicked timing. All tragedies find their perfect timing in our personal narratives of history and significance, where we salve the pangs with the consolation: “It was meant to be.”
